Default new 2012 street glide

hey guy I am still breaking in my motor, yesterday at the time it had around 225 miles on it and it was hot out and we had been riding for a bout 45 min already, I stopped to get gas and started it back up and heard some loud knocking that faded fairly fast. and it done it again a lil later. then the next couple times I started it it didnt do it at all. it does seem like I can hear motor noise during operation but I heard that is normal.. should I be worried at all
thanks
mike

I think it was more like knocking,I was like wow I thought for sure the motor was going bad and quick then it just got quiet. I rode it today and it seemed fine, I get a noise right around 2000 rpm sounds like valve or lifter clatter I guess. it motor seems strong and runs good though. I am at 417 miles now. thanks for the input

The top ends of these engines are noisy. It should sound like a bunch of clicking, somewhat like a sewing machine.

The first 800 miles on mine it made all kinds of noise and fuel milage was crap but as you get more miles it all will smooth out did on mine anyway.. At 1000 i put amsoil in all holes put air mufflers and power vision runs good.......

I just bought a 12 SG, and I am shocked by all the motor noise. First Harley Ive ever had with stock exhaust. I think when we get louder pipes we will quit worrying about it because we will never hear it again.

Be Safe!
