I have a 2012 FLHTC, and I love my bike, I really do, except this.
The black console insert that says "Electra Glide Classic" that is inlaid into the chrome console panel sucks. It's so cheap, and if you even look at it the wrong way, it dents. I sometimes push there when I get on/off my bike. I see aftermarket ones for Street Glides, but so far I haven't seen any for the EG Classic.
Does anyone have any ideas? Does HD make anything? I see HD makes a Flame one and Skull one that I'm not to crazy about, but it's probably made of the same cheap material too.
Interesting post Dom,
I just brought mine home last Thursday, and the dealer had to order me a new console and tour pak lid, for the console was as you say "dented" and the tour pak lid had a small spider web (blemish) in the clear coat.
We looked at the console insert and the service manager wasn't sure if the MoCo would just send that or the whole damn shootin match.
Be interesting to see what there are for viable options.
Thanks VTL, that black console part that is dented is just a "Peel and Stick" item. I'm sure they'll just send the black part.
Thanks Dawg, I saw those. Nice, but just a little over the top for me. Looking for something a little more tame I saw one from a CVO, and it looks like the insert is metal and a smaller insert. It may fit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HARLEY-2009-...d8ed92&vxp=mtr
