Have a 2011 SG, called the dealer to see how much the install would be, told me 2.5 hrs.( 227.00) Correct me if im wrong, is that just a plug and play install?

If you are talking about the security system.... let the dealer do it. It's a PITA. It has to be "married" to the bikes computer. It can be done.... but if you miss a step in the Marrying part, you have to start over. It involves fiddling with your ignition switch and turn signals...... OVER AND OVER for about 45 minutes. Like I said, if you miss one of the TIMED steps, you start over.

The dealer will use the digital technician, and it will be automated. He'll plug into your ECM, and walk away, and let the digital technician do it's thing

If your just talking about the siren...... you just plug it in. Takes 10 minutes.

Talking about the Alarm its self, I will research it, I thought I seen where it just plugged in on the right side. Then you have to take to the dealer to flash it. Guess there are a few more steps I would have to do to marry it to the bike. I will do some more research thanks.

The alarm is the thing that makes noise. The security system is what flashes your lights, and disables your ignition.

yah i'd like some clarification here - i thought installing the alarm/siren portion was easy, installing security is a different matter.

The HD smart siren is easy..

Here it is in a nutshell from memory.

Ignition on...... remove main fuse .... turn ignition off...... plug in siren.... put fuse back in.

DONE

The security system is a whole different cluster %*&$.

Let the dealer do it..... unless you like frustration. 2.5 hours for labor beats suicidal thoughts
