Im looking for a trailer to haul my 08 streetglide on trip when I take the whole family. Any recommendations? I would like to get something inexpensive. Thanks.
Sometimes cheap isn't the way to go. Putting a 25 to 30K bike on a 300 dollar trailer ?? I like the Kenden folding trailer, not cheap new but you can get them used for at 1400 off ebay/ craigslist. It has 15 inch wheels and stores in a very little space. At rallies you can store it behind your vehicle taking up one space. Something to think about.
There have been a couple of reviews of the Harbor Freight trailer. Wouldn't recommend it for your $25k bike.
I use my trailer as a garage for my bike, so I got an enclosed Haulmark.
I bought two of these trailers and made a tandom with lift gat out of the two. Boy, I'm glad I went tandom. I found out the hard way that the tires are only 2 ply, which is good for 55 MPH. Needless to say, I blew two of them on my trip from NYC to Ga. The bike was fine since I had the twin axles. I was able to buy 4 ply tires at a kmart and with 4 ply, you are good for 70 MPH. So the bottom line...these are nice trailers to haul wood from home depot to your house...but they are not made to go on the open highway at high speeds for a long period of time. you def want to carry a grease gun and lube those wheel bearings during the trip.
I had a HF trailer for 2 years. It probably had the same frame and suspension as the one you're looking at, but it was the one with the short side rails. I sold it as it wasn't quite long enough for my bike (tail gate wouldn't go full up).
I had no problems with tire either.
I then found a used Kendon foldup trailer. Had it sand blasted, and then I painted it with Rustoleum Safety Red, added HF lighting, Bearing Buddy wheel bearing lube caps and now it stands safely out of the way in my garage waiting for the one time a year that I use it. Of course it gets loaned out to friends on occasion.
Got my 6x10 at Lowes and wheel chock thingy at Harbour Freight. Have towed it at 70+ a copletimeswith no problems. Tows straight and true. Piad about $1k for it.
