Default Knock after sitting

i have a 02 egc with 17k miles carbed, when it sits for a week or 2 and is started it will knock for a while seems like it is in the upper valve area, it will go away after a couple minutes. it only does it after it sits for a period of time , should i be worried? i m running hd 20-50 oil and it is stock except for rineharts. TIA

My 2012 Limited does that for just a few seconds. Dealer said it is because the lifters bleed down and a couple of seconds is nothing to worry about. I think a couple of minutes is excessive, and you might want to have someone check it.

Make sure the oil filter is one of those that holds oil in it rather than draining out completely. If it just started doing that it wouldn't be a bad idea to test the oil pump making sure its doing what its suppose to.

This is exactly it. It just takes some time for the pressure to pump up the lifters and make their way all the way up to the top end. If it doesn't go away relatively soon after you start up then there may be other problems.

I recently changed oil and filter and it now seems more noticable but i checked the hd part# and it was for a twin cam. The filter had material behind the small oil holes on the top of the filter.
