To tell you the truth, I dont think it should matter if a product was purchased on ebay or on the moon, the buyer should have at least a basic level of support. I wasnt asking them to replace the unit, I simply wanted to ask some questions about improving its performance. I was told they would Fax me a form to fill out (identifying where purchased) and if approved, they would have a tech call me back.
I do technical support for the company I work for. I would never deny help to someone wanting to improve how my product is used. I treat my customers like I would want to be treated and I cannot believe the stupidity of any company that does not subscribe to that mentality. For instance, how much money did it cost Cobra in their advertising budget before I decided to purchase their product? Now consider the cost in lost sales this post can do by honestly reporting to other potential buyers treatment like I received from them. Would anyone with the brain power over an ameba buy something that is maybe (a) not quite up to the advertised claims, or (b) may not be completely supported if you do have a problem? I can tell you one thing for sure It will be a very cold day in hell before I ever purchase another Cobra product. Period!
You miss the point, the Cobra unit has no user adjustments, there is literally nothing you can do to change its performance. As long as it is wired up and the logo flashes when turned on and goes to steady on when the bike is started you are done. After that the only recourse is to swap out the unit, and if you don't have a receipt they most likely won't do that. I agree that they should at least talk to you on the phone, at the very least to tell you sorry, we only support sales from authorized dealers.

That may not be correct, at least according to the individual that answered the phone when I asked for technical support. He implied a Sr. Tech could make adjustments to the unit. I agree the installation was so simple it could be written in Crayon, and there were no obvious means of adjustments on the unit itself, so I was certainly intrigued when he made that statement. Thats when I was told about the faxed form which would cause the Sr. Tech to call me back. I even commented that I didnt see an external interface on the unit with which to connect to a laptop or something like that. He stated again that adjustments could be made by the Sr. Tech. I have no idea if there are manual adjustments under the faceplate similar to their R model or what. Bottom line is you are absolutely correct, and I failed to mention in my earlier post a fundamental point about how Cobra handled my request for help on their product in addition to refusing even a very basic level of support, if adjustments cannot be made Ill need to add BS artists or more accurately, blatant liars to the list of their customer support techniques.
Actually they do now have an adjustment. I found this out when having problems with my unit.
I had their Sr Tech tell me they are adding a pot with an LED that will adjust the fuel mixture. Only some of the newest ones on the market have them. He asked me to open mine up and see if I had it (mine didn't).
Don't be to surprised though if they say a 10mpg drop is normal. Mine on the second unit was getting a steady 29 to 31 mpg and they said that was normal. If I didn't think it was I should take the tuner off and run and see what my bike got. Thus why I removed the thing.
I have also heard they try unplugging the O2 from the unit and back to the bikes ecu. Sometimes that helps. Though I am still wary of this product.
adjusting fuel alone will not get you the best performance or the best smoothness out of your bike. Sounds like you already have your mind made up so call up cobra and order one.
Rooti, sounds like you don't care for the Cobra. What would you recommend?
There is a pretty good eval of this product on this site from last year. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...rpro-test.html
I have two friends who have this on their Harleys and are very happy with the performance improvement. I am considering this Cobra for my RK. I am stuck between this and Powervision. Regarding the drop in mileage, these bikes run so lean from the factory that the richer mixture the device provides will drop mpg so where's the surprise? I dont worry about 35MPG on my motorcycle because my truck gets about 12mpg.
BTW I buy plenty of things on Ebay but that wouldnt be something I would buy there.
Thanks for this thread, I just placed an order today for one of these new Cobra units. Can't wait!
I thought I'd check with Phat Performance Parts first since they were mentioned in the review that 99%er posted a link to. They listed the unit for my bike, a 2009 FLHTC Electra Glide Classic, for $479.95 (MSRP is $599.95). Let's just say that I tried to order one 'cause the guy on the phone wouldn't shut-up, he kept going into a sales spin whenever I tried to ask him a few questions. Hell, I had to interrupt him just to tell him what bike I had. Anyways, I hung-up frustrated, the man talked himself right out of a sale. Next, I took look at HDForums' vendor list and ran across Direct Harley Parts. I gave them a call and the guy that answered was polite, professional, and he listened. Also, their price was $459.95 with free shipping, sweet.

If you need some Harley parts, try Amazon too. I like Direct Harley Parts as well. I just got a complete Feuling cam chest kit gear drive from them. Paid less thru them then other parts dealers. And I have the Cobra installed on my bike. As a matter of fact, they just called to do a follow up on my system. I was having problems too rich of fuel at cruse and they said they were having these problems with some of the units. They sent me the new unit with no hassle. The new unit has an adjustable pod that you can lean or richen the fuel. As the tech said, most will leave it a lone but you have that option. I got mine adjusted just sightly lean and it seems to do pretty well. I did about 5 trips of 80 miles test to see what it will do and I was getting 33.5 mpg at first and now I am averaging around 38.9. Still seeing where the sweet spot is but other than that I am happy with the power performance. I am going to put in cams with gear drive and I am anxious to see how the Cobra will do. I know there are other units that will allow you have better control but at my age I just let the younger guys do that. I just want something that I do not have to mess with.

I have a 12 sg and I put freedom performance true duals, and the fi2000 power pro, stock intake. and I am running alot cooler than the stock pipes. I dont even hear the exhaust cracking and making noise when I am done riding, my buddies fat bob when we stop I can just hear how much hotter he is running from all that noise his makes..
where is that adjuster at for these?
I am so P1$$d off at Cobra right now. Over the weekend I installed the new Fi2000 Power Pro on my 2010 Ultra Classic. I purchased the product on ebay and there is the problem (from Cobras perspective anyway). Cobra will NOT support any product without the receipt or one purchased on ebay! Why...? What difference does it make where I purchased this piece of crap? They made it I was stupid enough to buy it apparently they have so many problems with it they cant even afford time for a phone conversation to figure out why my mileage dropped from about 40-42 mpg to 30-31 as soon as I installed it? The guy who answered the tech support phone said 10 mpg is typical . Are you kidding me, a 25% decrease in mileage is typical? I screwed up big time buying this piece of garbage and I wish I had known how this so called tech support would use any excuse not to try and figure out why they cant make it work. Dont make the same mistake I did.
I agree! Cobra sucks and I had the same problem! Only I bought mine from Cobra and their service sucked!
Search it, you will find the same problems with many others.
They finally admitted to the dealer mine was a faulty unit.
