Default Air suspension pressures?

I have had my new to me 99 EG Standard for a month now, I have gotten used to it and now me and the wife are taking our first road trip, about 250 miles to the Outerbanks in NC, am on vacation this week. I know it is not a cross country trip but a good start for us, my mother has a house down there and is free for me to use from time to time. I have had several bikes in my life but this is the first big touring bike, I have checked and re checked everything on the bike, everything looks good to go. I never have had an air suspension and wanted to ask what should the pressures be, I bought the bike from a indy dealer and he never went over the air suspension with me and of course it did not come with a manual.

Thanks

For 2 up with luggage, 50psi. Solo, depending on your weight, 20-40 psi. I'm fiddling around with the pressure on my new bike and at 212lbs w an empty tourpack, I like 30.

Memory says the manual indicates never go higher than 50. Use low pressure hand pump, never compressor. Add 3psi before you reduce pressure to avoid venting oil.

DO NOT PUT 50 PSI IN OLDER SHOCKS . The manual will tell you max 35 psi

newer bikes take up to 50 psi .

well first advise is buy a manual good investment .

also do not use a regular air hose like at the gas station or your compresor you will blow the seals .

go to HD and buy the special no air loss pump . it is spendy $$$ but a good quality tool.

with your rear shocks it depends on your weight .

start with 10lb , ride it ,then increse it a few pounds ride it tell its right for you .

add 4 or 5 more lb for your passenger when two up and a few more when loaded up .

i run 24lb solo about 28 or 30 for two up .

AGAIN max presure for older shocks is 35psi newer bikes 50psi

Get a manual .

I did put my pressure gauge on the rear and a little oil came out, thats when I came in and asked you guys before I did anything, I have a bicycle pump, would that work?
Are the pressures the same for all years, I have a 99.

I have a new EGC, I run solo at 21-23PSI, 2UP I run at 38 without my tour pack and 45 with the tour pack, I weigh 215 and the wife weighs 128. BTW I learned through experience over the last month that you want to check the pressure every few days before a ride to ensure it is accurate. I would also suggest get the HD pump as it is worth the $50 instead of fighting with a bike pump and pressure gauges on the road.

For your 99 you will not want to go over 35 PSI though if they are factory shocks.

I did order a manual and will get the pump, I am about 200lbs and the wife 150, we will have both saddle bags packed and a soft touring pack over the sissy bar packed.

FWB slip by Waughs and get the pump before you do anything else, my wife and i are about the same as Ya'll my ultra is newer and when we come up your way we always run the max 50 psi, so on yours that would be 35 psi, it rides great like this, with the pump you can adjust the pressure small amounts at a time without to much air loss, have fun on your trip to the OBX as i'm sure you know 64 can be a bitch so timing on it is everything keep your eyes open around you out there!!

Listen to Baust55.

If you try to put 50 lbs in older shocks you may blow the seals.

When I had a 1996, I ran 25-30 pounds when I was 2 up.

Harley shocks take very little air volume. If your pump doesn't let any air out when you pull the chuck off, it might be okay. But as soon as you try to test it with a standard gauge, you are back to close to zero.

The Harley shock pump is well worth the price.
