Snap, crackle and pop
Good day folks...
I am wondering if anyone has ever had this issue.
I have a problem with my rear channel using the Hogtunes amp when my 09 FLHTC is running. I hear snap, crackles and pops.
What I have done..
I have checked the grounds
I have switched the output from rear to front, and front to rear and hear the crazy noise from the front speakers.
I removed the amp from the connections and ran straight from the radio, no noise.
I sent the amp back to Hogtunes and they checked it out. They found no issues with the amp on their bench. They replaced a board in the amp with a newer version and sent me new wiring harnesses for the main connection and for the rear speakers.
I have replaced the rear harness and when I have the bike in Access, it sounds great, but once the motor kicks over, I get the noise.
I will be replacing the main harness this weekend.
One thing that did happen and I'm trying to remember if the noise started after, and that was a blown fuse for the radio. I put a replacement fuse, same amps in and it blew right away. I installed a brand new fuse and it has held since.
Could this be alternator noise? If so, why only the rear channel on the amp?
I was going to remove everything from the electrical system except stock parts and start from there. I have a GPS, LEDs, a deer hornet, and H-D flood lights. The GPS, the deer hornet were not on at the time of the "run" test. The LEDs are off, but the control box was still connected and the H-D Floods were on.
Anyone have any troubleshooting experience they would like to share?
Thanks,
Whiskers
