Default Squealing noise

Just getting the bike back together and noticed that my stereo is making a hi pitched pulsing squealing noise. I disconnected the amp, the biketronics hand control box and the noise is still there. I've checked all my powers, grounds even ran separate jumpers and the noise won't go away. It's gotta be in the head unit, but what the hell happened? Anyone hear of this? I got a Sony CDX M10

if you disconnected the amp and the squealing is still there, it's not the headunit because the signal to the speakers stops at the amp.

Have you completely disconnected the amp?

By passed the amp by hooking the speakers up directly to head unit. It's baffling, I can't imagine what happened. It worked great a couple months ago, last time I rode it.

So with the radio only it squeals? You might want to check your speakers wire to make sure theyre not grounding out against metal. Pinched maybe?

No, it squeals on all sources, CD, aux and tuner. I now have the head unit powered up externally from the bike and wired to one speaker externally and it still does it. It has to be the head unit.

well you've certainly narrowed it down to the headunit. sounds like a great excuse to buy a new one.. :-)
