SE255 cams and engine temp.
Mmmmmmoooooooo..
Cams have to fit your motor and your riding style. There is no perfect option. Do some research and pick what works for you. I very seldom go over 4000 rpm, so the 255 works for me, regardless of what the "herd" says. It pulls like a freight train 2 up in the hills of Tennessee.
Now I have the parts com'n together to go 103 using SE flat-tops,cyls bored by Kirby-ProDrag, 08 heads Blueprinted and CC'd installing PRvalves by Don Doorfman of Dewey's Heads up in Wa.
AND,,,Still gonna use the SE255's... My bike is NOT running too Hot now or will it later...
I added a Jagg oil cooler when I got my bike down to Az. using the thermostat unit by Jagg in front of the oil filter and mounted cooler to the left down-tubes...
I use Redline Products. 20/50 engine, MTL in Primary/clutch, ShockProof Heavy in the tranny.
My bike will start just fine, even on the Hottest days of 112* and runs cool... Oil pressure is running at 38/40 at highway speeds. Using the Original Comp. also.
I am doing a Beta for Dobeck on their Gen4 and will get the Finished updated programed one this week Before Sturgis I hope...
The gen 4 doesn't take out timing but TOTAL Control of you AFR and seeing Actual AFR on your gauge. Really helps on the Run-ability and Cooling of the engine. ECONOMY is there also, leaning it out a little on a long trip does improve your mileage by a lot and you can have it set to Not run too lean in the lower speeds at the same time also.

From another 255 cam thread:
se-255 cam Kit
the ultimate in torque cams, this cam offers substantial
increase in low-end torque for engines up to 110 cubic
inches with compression ratios up to 10 to 1. the lowend
torque increases are great for heavy bikes or for the
person who routinely shifts below 4500 rPM and wants
the power available to pass without downshifting. the
cam still makes peak power above 5000 rPM so people
with lighter bikes will enjoy the torque increases without
feeling like the bike runs out of air at higher engines
speeds. these cams are used in the ’07-later street-legal
103 Stage II Kits and the 110 Stage I Kits. Compression
releases may be required depending on displacement
and compression ratio.

se-254e cam Kit
this cam provides great low-end torque along with
good midrange. A good “all-around” cam, the Se-254e
is a good match for a Dyna, Softail or light touring bike
- road KingŽ, Street GlideŽ or road GlideŽ Custom -
when the aggressive rider desires a little more top-end
horsepower. In a 0-60 sprint or 1/4 mile drag race, the
Se-254e-equipped model would pull ahead of an identical
model with a Se-255 cam.
