Looks like I have a garmin Road Tech 665 purchase gone bad. It started after the dealer installed it and the told me that I have to call XM to get activation. I thought you got 3 month free trial with purchase. So i call XM to get the radio, weather and traffic activated. They told me I could not get a free trial. Well the only one I could get is the XM radio and they said I could not get any thing else. They told me to get ahold of dealer and they had to take care of it. I call dealer and they know nothing about that, and they told me i should be able to get XM Trafic and XM weather. What do I do now!!!!!!

 

UM tell the dealer to take it off ,shove it up their ***, and go buy one somewhere else!

 

You pay the subscription and move on. It's worth it. If you want to try it out before making a big commitment, just pay 3 months. It's only about $50-60 bucks.

 

I just went through the same thing here. Apparently the manual is old and the code from Garmin is old. There is nothing the dealer can do because the free trial is through Garmin not Harley. So like the other poster said just pay the activation fee and subscription fee and drive on. It is well worth it in my humble opinion for what is worth.

 

So i can't figure out how to get the weather and traffic. My radio does not have the apps to activate them. How do i get the apps. Sirus is no help.

 

You have to have the XM subscription for XM traffic and XM weather. You can get them when you activate your XM radio or you can get just traffic and weather and no radio service. This what I was told when I went to activate mine and I asked to speak with a supervisor after I was told that the code word for the free three months and the free activation was no longer valid. I raised hell with them about the code no longer being valid after spending the cash this is when I found out that this through Garmin not HD. The supervisor told me that if I was not satisfied with the sat service that I could cancel it but still keep the traffic and weather for a much smaller fee. Dont quote me on this but I think it was just $9.95 a month for just the traffic and weather service. I hope this helps soinds like a bunch of crap but know I have all active I am very happy with it all especially with the traffic and weather service. The wife and I just did the Lake Michigan circle tour and it was a great help I say enough about how easy it made our trip.

It's not up to the dealer and customer service from Sirius XM sucks horribly.

 

I just use my Garmin that I use in my car. Bought a Ram mount and it works great. $99.00 vs the 400-600 they want to charge for true motorcycle GPS units.
