The only point I would add is -- anticipate! Assume they WILL. Because they sometimes do!
Glad you had no contact!
Yep. Watched a minvan stop at an intersection on my right (I was on two lane highway). Watched her look left and then look right at me and pull out !!
I had already started slowing 'cause I just KNEW she was gonna do it !! Pulled up beside her and she was mouthing the "I'm sorry" crap, too.
Yup, if you assume anything you are going to be in trouble. When I get on my bike before I ride I take a minute and tell myself I am on a bike and have to drive differently then when I am driving a cage, mentally prepare everytime.
I had a guy over take me on the right , shoulder check , make eye contact with me (because I was 4 feet away) and come into my lane.
Good thing I twisted the throttle when he was looking right at me.
Be Alert Out There.
They really are out to get us,
Rob
Glad you're ok! At least he was sorry about it. I've had people do that and then flip me off, even after slamming on the brakes to let them over. Definitely glad you're ok. scary
That is how I ride, like we are invisible. I some time think of cages as bogies out to get us.
There is absolutely nothing a motorcycle rider can do to make someone see them. Ride like you're invisible to everyone. Always give yourself an 'out'. Live to ride another day.
I have to truly admitt that since I switched over my regular headlight & aux lights to the HD LED's people see me immediately & don't cut out in front of me as much so far! Knock on wood!
My first bike purchase was 1974. The young lady that sold it to me told me to remember I "was invisible". I didn't understand until I had rode a couple of weeks. Now I completely understand and always anticipate the other guy doing the most stupid thing he could and how am I going to react. But even that don't help. I recently almost had my arm knocked off when my riding buddy didn't notice me slow down and stop for a light. He went right by me on the right at 50 mph. Inches from me in my lane. I was a little pissed! Another guy passed me on the right on a two lane road also. Even the bikers will get ya!

Reason: spelling
This is happening WAY too much lately. Just had a friend total his bike after getting hit by person who ran red light. Sorry to hear about your friend... : (
