Road Glide Owners?
Road Glides are FUGLY, the lights don't turn with the handlebars, the radio is too far away, and if you get one when you park you may be one of the few in the parking lot; now why would you want a bike like that? BTW, check out www.roadglide.org for more info and people who really take RGs seriously.
I love my 06'.
That said, I rented a 2012 RGU in Phoenix last winter. Definitely the nicest bike I've ever ridden. Rode 1,000 miles in two days two up and we both loved every minute of it.

Test ride one and you'll be hooked. I've owned at least one model from each HD family and the FLTR is by far the best ride out there. Only mods I made was changing the handlebars to Heritage and put a Klockwerks Flare shield on. The new shield helped a lot with the down force on the front at higher speeds. Ride 100 miles a day round trip to work and is the best part of my day (of course). Fugly is a "good" thing. Enjoy

+1 on the RG forum. They have an array of solutions for the buffeting.
Personally, I always looked at the RG as Harley's version of a sport tourer. Therefore, I am not a fan of the Ultra. I do have a removable TP for my bike, but it came with it and I only use it on longer trips where I need the storage. Otherwise, the bike is kept clean and simple. Just my opinion of course.
As far as the buffeting, I have an HD touring shield cut down so I look over it. Works great.

I went from my 11 Softail Blackline to a 12 RoadGlide Custom and have not regretted the decision one bit. I had ridden several other Harley before I made the switch and the way it handles on all conditions wind, rain, or perfect day it is very stable and love the ride.
I hate my 2012 Road Glide ultra wobbler just to many things wrong with it. If Harley can't fix it this time it's up for sale or up harley's A#%. I been on bikes to long for a bike like this to kill me over small stuff.
If your set on one do your homework rent one take it up to 60 and take your hands of the bars. put it in a turn at 70 if all is well you got a good one if not RUN don't walk away from the sale. And make sure to look at the
fit and finishes good.

Road two Road Glides, one wobbled one didn't. All related to fallaway.
I've rented a new Road Glide Ultra and Road Glide Custom. I'll be getting the Custom because I prefer the overall package and would hardly ever use a Tour Pak.
That said, the RGU is the most unique bike I have EVER ridden. Why? Because there's so little wind that I didn't need ear plugs, even at 80mph. I have NEVER ridden a bike at over 45-50 that didn't make my ears hurt so bad I had to put in plugs. Plus it's comfortable. Great overall bike, but I'm not mentally old enough to join the "Ultra" crowd.
The RG custom still has far better wind management than my Street Glide ever did. I fought the SG for three years and finally ditched it. Looked great, but the batwing fairing sucked.
Just a little taller shield than the toenail on the Custom and I'm good.[/quote]
What he said...
Most folks gloss over the differences between the RG Custom & the RG Ultra.
They are radically different bikes. Beginning with the stance 1" lower + a 16" wheel in the rear and an 18" on the front.
Ride both because they are as different as a Street Glide and an E Glide Ultra.
