I bought the Harley Boom Audio speakers. They sound great and are plug and play.

The biggest difference going from 5-1/4" stock size speakers to 6.5"/7.25" speakers (with adapters) is you might get a little bit fuller sound by adding a touch of bass that the 5-1/4" cones can't provide. This probably won't be too noticeable going down the road at 65+mph. Your still pushing the sound of the bigger speakers thru a 5-1/4" opening, like a funnel effect...

It is more than that, CLARITY is what I was after. I'm not big on bass, I just want full dynamic sound with CLARITY. Stock speakers suck compared to other options. I have a friend that kept everything stock on his bike, with our bikes side by side we listen to our radios playing the same music and his sounds like crap. He thought it sounded fine until he heard what it can sound like. Clear rich tones, you will not get that with stock speakers.

Oh, I agree. I sure didn't want to imply that sound couldn't be improved over the stock 5-1/4" speaker. Lots of good speakers out there much better than the stock H-D speakers for sure...

If you do a search on this forum, I upgrade my 2007 E/glide with JBL GTO527's aftermarket speakers from EBay, and much improved. Use care when installing speakers that you maintain the proper depth of the speakers by shimming so speaker screws dont bottom out and poke through front of fairing, or bottom out screws and twist them off: don't ask me how I know. The JBL's were around $35 for the pair.
