Here's a piece of wood flinging out of the back of a pick up headed straight for your face.
May you survive interesting times.
A 2X4 came off of a truck a few years ago on I95. slapped across the windshield. Not sure, but the shield may have saved me some teeth.
I have been hit in the face with stuff, but MOST of it hits the shield. But as I said before, the wind noise baffling is the biggest reason to use one.
I to have a 06 road king. I ride it alot without the windshield very windy but I like the wind in my face when the weathers nice. The stock windshield works great for blocking the wind its a world of difference.
Same here, about the only time my RK doesn't have the windshield on is if I'm just putting around town running a few errands. Any lengthy riding or at higher speeds it definitely goes on!
holy mackeral - why not put a roof and doors on it while you're at it?
motorcycle = wind in your face! j/k joe

You still get wind in your face with shield, but 90% of insects hit shield, the comfort level is much higher and you don't go deaf. The wind noise muffling is the ticket for me.
Bought my King this spring and have yet to ride with the windshield. Isn't the wind in your face part of the riding experience ?
Actually I think I'd enjoy something like a Road Glide type fairing with a windscreen slightly higher than the stock toenail the best.
I enjoy the wind in my face, and that's why I went with a FatBoy. However, when I take longer rides with friend on touring bikes and there are hours spent on highways, I get fatigued. People say that it's the limited suspension, etc., but it's from the wind hitting my upper torso. I find myself holding on hard to combat the wind at highway speed, and eventually I can feel strain in my shoulders. The wind in my face doesn't bother me, though if I could lessen it by about a third that would be great too.
Let's see now....................you have a motor that takes a windshield, you don't like all that wind that comes when you don't have a windshield........................................ .... Did you drop out of day care? All that other crap, deflectors and whatnot, looks like ****. A shield will keep things like birds, hornets, rocks, and other flying crap out of your face, you'll be more relaxed in the saddle for longer periods, less fatigue on long runs, less hearing damage,on and on.

Wimpy wimpy wimpy! Why are you guys even riding? Wind in the hair, bugs in my tooth, sun on my face and rain on my back. Is the ladies auxiliary forum? Man up and ride natural or go back to your cage!!!!
I don't get this Thread.
How could any one drive a bike at lets say 60 mph with nothing in front to block the wind and NOT know you will get hit in the face with a 60 mph wind blast. Even more if you are driving in to a head wind.
Just common sense.
I have not ridden without a windshield on my Road King since I put the LRS on it. Yesterday was a super hot day and a buddy and I set out for a 500 mile trip. I decided to ditch the shield and boy was I sorry. Being pelted with dirt, stones, bit in the shoulder by a bee, the wind killing my ears. Shield is back on and not coming off!!!! Look in the classifieds here, craigslist, ebay for a deal. I do however highly recommend a LRS shield.
