Default Electra Glide Heat

The engine heat on the right side of my '09 Ultra is pretty tough. I had an '04 Ultra with the same problem. It is totally stock. The handling and performance is much better than the '04, however the heat is about the same. I thought the routing of the pipes would help the heat problem, but I don't see any difference. I'm satisfied with the performance and sound. Any suggestions??

The design of the twin cam motor is inherently hot (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harley-...win_Cam_engine ), so most of the suggestions for reducing the heat will be better air flow, better exhaust (less restrictive/cat removal), and better tune(r) with correct AFR. None EPA cams also help. Heat protection from the Capt. Itch type devices, also helps.

I got my heat manageable and performance greatly improved but at a cost of $2,500. Good luck with the other suggestions to come.

I did all of these things as well, and it does make a big difference. My bike only gets overly warm on days when the outside temp is higher than the mid 90's. My carbed Night Train runs so much cooler than my EFI Ultra. The ability to run a little rich and cool everything down is a major improvemment.

Put the crotch cooler on the wife's Lo and it worked wonders, and looks like it belongs on the bike. Definitely didn't look like it was home made.

Nicely made out of very thick leather. Not only helps with heat off the motor to the side bet also up through the seat.

Went with the FULLSAC true duals and solved the heat problem. My wife noticed it a lot more than I did. Best I can tell ya.
