I just started using Startron on omy 03 stock 88. Still checking but my mileage apprears to have increased by 6. More important it helps with the moisture caused by the ethanol crap. Your soon to be 10 year old bike with only 8500 miles is barely broken in. You may see an improvement once you put some miles on it. Check the date code on your tires and hopefully their not originals that could be a hazard.
If you're getting 30 mpg it's not the fuel. It's the tuner or your right wrist.
Could be a good guess on right wrist!......I just got the bike and need to check it all out. Right now all I know is it is a 2003 SE with the 103 in it, hypercharger, rinehart duals, and thats about it. No idea of when it might have been tuned. I have heard of possibe issues of being able to get a decent tune with the hypercharger.
It's not the ethanol, it makes slightly less mileage in my experience.
My first guess would be you are running to rich, whether it be by your tuner settings or possibly something wrong.
Was it always this way?
Have you ever been able to smell unburned gas coming from your bike?
What mods have been done?
Something as simple as an exhaust leak might just be the answer.
Only had the bike for a little over 2 weeks so as long as I have had it, yes it was like this from day one.Not so sure about the unburned gas smell although I can smell exhaust fumes somewhat strong.
Best additive for you would definitely be some time spent tuning on a good dyno with a competent tech. If you control your right hand you should easily be able to see 40+ mpg after the map is corrected.

Sounds like good advice to me....Now, what is the price range to get a dyno tune done?...I dont want to get ripped off.
