We are in our 40's i understand if your bring stuff for a weeklong vacation with the family. My point was why own a Touring bike just to tow it? I don't think 6 hours on a bike is that long, but thats just me. Plus it's alot cheaper riding the bike than towing with your truck.. Funny you mention dirt roads, we just stayed in Vermont and had to drive a dirt road for a mile or 2, thankfully there was no rain and the dust did suck, but i keep cleaning stuff on my bike.

I sold my trailer when I sold my old custom.....real sorry I did. As naked as the garage felt without a bike, the same for not having a trailer. I now own a Street Glide and I bought another trailer knowing I can pickup and go any time I want....rain or shine. The new trailer I don't believe is built as well as the old one was but it is a, more than adequate, single bike enclosed v-nose. It is as much a rolling garage, security enclosure at a hotel as it is a vehicle to get me where I want to do some riding.

Ego aside, at 70, I can care less if anyone labels me as a wimp for towing. Along with age comes knowledge, so let the real bikers prove how tough they are and we will just pay homage to them.

Yep, past couple of years I've spent summers in Utah and winters in southern Nevada. Kind of hard to move 6 months worth of living stuff on a bike. I tow one of them down and then back again every year. I do however make many trips back and forth between northern Utah and Las Vegas on my SG. Anyone wants to accuse me of being a puss and not riding much they are probably right. I barely have over 27k on my 2011 geezer glide. It would be more but I have 2 other bikes I ride also.

To me it's all about personal choice.....I live in Altanta and used to tow my bike to Denver, meet with my buddies, leave the trailer and ride to Sturgis. Now I ride everywhere and don't tow, but it's a personal choice. In the last year, I've ridden to Sturgis last year (and am leaving in a couple of weeks to ride back there), Daytona, and Laconia. I just really like to ride long distances..........it's a personal choice.

Thinking about selling my Kendon two up trailer.......it's a GREAT trailer..........

Depends on situation. If I can I'll ride. If I've got coolers, luggage, kids etc. I'll trailer.

The bike sleeps in the trailer, out of the rain and does not have to go up the dusty or muddy dirt road this way. All I have to do is drive 3 miles to his house to get my bike so we can ride. That trailer makes my life so much better!!!
I have a similar situation. I have about a mile of gravel/dirt road that leads up to my cabin in the mountains. I do ride up sometimes, but coming down is always an adventure. Sometimes I am up for the adventure, sometimes not. I keep a tractor and a little trailer on the property. If I do not feel like dealing with the road I walk up and bring the tractor back down to trailer the bike to the top. A couple of guys that go out there with me sometimes refuse to ride to the top because they are scared of the controlled crash down the hill (don't blame them), when they are with me I make them walk up the hill to get the tractor . I don't tow the bike out there, I usually ride, but, if I had a trailer at home I might consider it. I do get some odd looks from people passing on the main road, I guess it is not common to see an old 51 Ferguson TO30 tractor towing a trailer with a motorcycle on it.

In June into July I spent 10 Days in Bar Harbour ME. & North Conway NH! I have an enclosed V-Nose trailer & it was priceless as it was my portable garage to keep my bike out of the rain & security purposes! Try packin 10 days of stuff to two people on a bike! LOL I tow the trailer with my 2008 Harley Davidson F-150 which I get many complements on when I stopped for fuel & is fun to drive also. I don't care what people think when me & the Mrs. are going far away......

I suppose if there is a real valid reason.....
He bought the bike to ride though, no?
I guess if you want to spend the night in the trailer like a toy hauler it would not be a problem for me, but I would prefer to ride.
