I don't know what you are talking about "extra 3 inches".
If you want the feeling of more room you should look at getting a Road Glide.
They aren't any bigger either, but they feel that way because the windshield is so far forward.
But the seat position, gas tank, handle bars, and footboards are all the same.
I went from an 11 Streetglide to a 12 Roadking. The Streetglide definitely had more leg room. Not sure if it was the seat or what but he is 100% correct. I ordered a 12 SG seat on Ebay last night to check. Got it for a good price too...
I traded in my 01 RKC last year on a CVO SG. Love the SG but it does not have the room the RKC had. Perhaps if I go with a tallboy seat or lower the floorboards but I scrape as it is so not an option there.
Good on you for keeping both. I wish I still had my RKC to ride on occasion.

A different seat will make it feel different.
The frames are all the same that the seats and floorboards bolt onto.
Let me know if I'm wrong, once you try the Street Glide seat on your Road King.

Can't compare the two. Different frames...like I said, it is probably the seat though...

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but can I ask why you went from a SG to a RK?
I have a '12 RK and really like it but I was thinking maybe to trade in for a '13 SG next year. Is there much difference except for the fairing, tunes and guages?
Sorry for the interrupt OP.
I was done messing with the SG and wanted something without a windshield. I like to mod bikes as much as I like to ride them and the SG was basically done...Mostly the windshield though and I can always add a detachable fairing (on the list) to the RK...

It is sweet to have both types of rides. I was only able to gett 370 miles on the Road Glide, thanks to Uncle Sam, but it was nice to know I could either lay back and crank up the music or put my fists in the air and just hear the bike....
HOPE YA ENJOY THE WEIGHT OF THE FAIRING BOLTED TO YOUR FRONT END, I KNOW. I WENT FROM A ROADKING TO STREETGLIDE AND HATED IT SO i THEN WOUND UP WITH A FUGLY NO WEIGHT ON THE FRONT END LIKE A ROADKING BUT HAVE THE TUNES ETC
