Does anyone know of an Indy in the midwest that has good prices on the sale and install of Ohlin 3:3. rear shocks. My FLHRSi hits potholes like I'm about to get a spinal tap every time. I know Howard's prices will be hard to beat but he's way down in FL.
Extremely easy install. Howard is a bit eccentric but he will walk you through it with more detail than you could possibly need. He also is great about questions down the road. Need a bike jack. Just 4 bolts. You don't adjust them until after 500 miles. You need to learn to dial them in yourself. I just got back from riding the farm to market roads of the Texas Hill country. Lots of creek crossings dips, and bumps. Bike fully loaded with wife and lots of gear was smooth as silk. I have the #3-3s.
I put 3-3's on my FLHRSi. They were purchased from Howard. It raised the bike up on the rear some versus the 12" air-shocks. But the ride is now compliant, and I don't feel like I'm riding on a buckboard anymore. (Actually, I went from Progressive 940's, which were better than stock, but not nearly as good as the Ohlins).
For the record, I told my Indy what I paid for my shocks, and he was a little surprised. He thought I'd bought the 2-x's, because the price was so reasonable.
I installed my own shocks. If you can turn a wrench and have basic common sense, you can do it. Besides which, Howard will walk you through it over the phone. You just need to arrange a day/time with him that suits both your schedules.
