Hi out there, Im looking for some help. I have a 2007 Ultra. I went for a ride the other day and when I shut it off it wouldn't start again. What I found out is everytime I disconnect the fuel line from the tank and relieve the pressure it starts right up and runs great, until I shut it off that is. Then I have to disconnect the line again. I'd appreciate any ideas to fix this problem. I'm missing some great riding weather. Thanks
I'd bet it's your fuel filter or a hole in the fuel filter hose. I just had to replace mine at 51k miles which HD recommends at 25K. There isn't much room in the tank and the hoses are prone to getting holes in them. You may need a new fuel pump but I'd start with replacing the fuel filter which comes with a new hose.
You didnt replace the gascap lately have you? If its not vented properly doing it manually is the only way to depressurise it.
Actually that doesn't do it. It needs to be disconnected at the quick connect for some reason. The tech that told me about the quick fix said the hose needs to be replaced. Not sure which one he was talking about though.
FWIW I did try the gas cap, took it off anyway, and it didn't help.
I'm curious to find the solution here. I have the same problem and have for a couple years now. It happens rarely enough where it's not too annoying.......so far...to get me into my tank.
