Default First time ABS event today...

A teen age girl in an SUV turned left in front of me today. I had to apply both brakes enough that the ABS activated, at least on the rear. I thought sure I was going to hit her but stopped just in time.

Scared the **** out of me but I don't think she even noticed as she just kept going.

I used to be a skeptic of ABS, until the first time it kicked in, now I never want another bike without it. Glad your adventure turned into a non event.

Mine paid for itself the other night when a black bear ran across the road in front of me. My wife grabbed me so hard she nearly ripped my nipples off, but thanks to the ABS we were able to slow down and get out of the way.

I hate ABS in trucks/cars. But I see they pay-off on bikes.

ABS sounds like a good thing, right now I have to rely on my own cool and hope my Angel isn't sleeping.

Default Has my dealer got it wrong.

I traded my 2010 Super Glide Custom for a 2012 Softail Deluxe.

When my dealer (who by the way) will do everything possible to make you happy told me that the ABS brakes work on the back and front.

Meaning that if you use the front brake the rear brake works at the same time and vice versa.

When I use my brakes it just feels like my Super Glide did.

Have used mine once. Same issue idiot turned left right in front of me. I swear it was intensional and of course it was a car full of kids (under 30 makes you a kid) in my book. ABS worked! Except I think my boxers were toast... just sayin.

I truly believe that ABS is one of the best additions when it comes to brakes. I traded my Super Glide in for my Street Glide just for that reason, so I could get them. I haven't had the occasion to use them on my Glide, but I have had to use them on my Gold Wing a few times over the years.
