Question Flhtc(u)

After more dealer visiting yesterday and today I've had more advice, this time to consider the FLHTC(U) and add the quick detach kit for the tour pak and have a full out tourer when I want it and basically a Street Glide when the tour pak was off. It sounds like a pretty good plan actually. Any and all thoughts and comments welcomed and solicited. Thanks.

I'm on my 2nd FLHTC ( 1995, 2009).

The "U" gets the cb radio, intercom, rear speakers and some badges, fairing lowers, and tour pak lights

the first two I don't care about, the speakers I don't want as I use the rear area for a big Tbag, the fairing lowers I add ( about $650) and the tour pak lights chew up interior space in the tourpak.

The FLHTC is available with ABS, cruise and security.

and can represent a savings of a few bucks.

tourpak off, add SG seat ( or solo seat as shown), shocks, pegs and cut down the windscreen looks like this:

I went with the FLHTC myself. I ride 95% of the time solo but want the extra storage when the wife rides with me or if I want to use the solo tour pack quick disconnect for my own long rides. I added the matching lowers as well from eBay for $500. The other addon items I would add are not part of the ultra classic anyway so why pay for the tour pack speakers, CB, Intercom etc since the wife rides and I have the scala Q2 multiset setup already?

The CB would be nice to have once in a while to find out what's wrong with traffic but otherwise not needed very often as I'd mostly be solo. It could be nice for group rides but I suspect those would be rare. I'd almost rather put a 2 meter radio on the bike. I'll have to think more about the C and add lowers rather than pay for all the extras on the U.

That is a really really sharp looking bike. That red is my favorite color too.

The only reason I would want an Ultra is for the lowers.I ride solo all the time so the rest of the stuff is not an attraction to me.Although sometimes I prefer the paint layout on the Ultra over the Classic,it wouldn't be enough for me to spend the extra bucks for things I don't need.

I've gotten so much bad information from my "CB Buddies" that I no longer bother to use it. I've had people give me bad directions, bad info about restaraunts, bad traffic updates. Apparently it is now funny or cool to lie to people--- It's easy to do because you are anonymus.
Anyway, I've owned many dressers and it sounds to me like you might consider an FLHTC. The price is quite a bit cheaper than an Ultra and you can always buy lowers if you want them.

Cheaper to make the tour pack on an ultra detachable than to add one to a streetglide.
