After about 350 miles, for me, it just ain't fun any more. I don't do the slab and go exclusively with the secondary roads, though. Also, I got all that speed-freak business outta my system years ago.

If you are doing interstate miles, my wife and I have consistantly done 450 mile days on our baggers riding two-up. We used to get up early and do 100 miles before breakfast around 9:00. We have taken many trips aiming to make 450 miles a day with seldom any problem. The primary highways like Rt.2 or Rt.66 demand a much slower pace and 250-300 mile days are more realistic. Now, that said, the older that we get, the harder it is to make big miles. So now, we rely on a much more flexible trip plan.

The most I have done in one day is 780 miles, that was just grinding it out trying to beat a storm system home. On many road trips the past few years I have found that I average about 53 mph for any given day. I usually try to ride 10 to 12 hours a day getting to a destination, that will get you 500 to 600 miles down the road, and it is not particularlly hard. But more like 200 to 300 day doing the scenic thing with my wife on board.

The most I've done and it was a planned grinder, was we left the Tail of the Dragon and headed to Myrtle Beach. All interstate mostly. My buddies metric had a smaller tank, so we stopped for fuel & tinkle every 2 hours. Took a little more than 8.5 hours. I feel like I could've kept going a little longer if I had too. But on most trips, 300 miles most of the time, we criuse the back lanes and it's all good.

Just made a run from NH out to Boulder, CO for a get together for a bunch of us that were stationed in Spain together in the early to mid 80s. Three days travel each way. My mileage out was 2080. We rode interstates the whole way (except VT and NH) and averaged between 6-800 miles a day. Not hard to do on the slabs, but don't expect to do a lot of sight seeing. On this trip, the important thing was getting there. If you are planning on taking in the local sights, plan on less miles per day. Oh yeah, one other thing, if headed west this time of year, you might want to bring some sun screen and plenty of fluids.

Depends on how much time and if I have somewhere specific I'm going. Typically 2-300 for me, but that's with me staying off the highways and taking back roads. I enjoy the winding country roads and scenery better....but that's just me

When we travel to Daytona from Houston, we usually go about 600 miles the first day and stop every 150 for butt and fuel stops. Some only have 5 gal tank, and some only have 150 pee tank, if you know what I mean.

Solo 600 mile days are easy, but start adding more people in the group and this drops off.

Holy cow, I need a nap after 3 hours of riding. Comes with age I guess.
