Just checking to see how many miles you guys average a day when you do trips on your bikes. What the most time / miles you have spent on your bike in one day? I know that it all depends on the rider and conditions just trying to see what the average is. Planning a trip and trying to plan travel time and route.
I guess I should change my answer from 200 miles to 4 hours of leisurely driving through dif towns sight seeing before i get sore.never been on the interstate so im assuming id make it alot farther at those speeds non stop.
Comfortably under 400 miles to get some where real long distance 500 miles, just came home from 4200 miles trip and the last leg of the trip 680 miles was planned for 2 days but we couldn't wait to come home so we made it to one day but still less then 12 hours. If you want to go over 500 miles a day you have to plan your gas stops and taking care of personal needs in a one and quick shot and whole group has to be on the same page.By your self you can easily do 500 miles in timely manners, I have done over 900 miles in 14 hours by my self but if you have even one more rider time ads up very quickly at each stop.
I just did Springfield, IL to Lone Tree, Co @ 960 miles over Memorial Day this year solo. It took me 14 hours to cover that distance, gas, restroom, and liquid were the only stops. Having traveled out west quite a bit I agree with one of the earlier posters that out west you can rack up the miles. I think one of the keys is the area and then the other is the heat. I rode last year Tulsa to Tucson in 100+ heat and 350 a day was a killer.
Indianapolis to just west of Joplin Missouri. 615 on rt 160. followed by a second day of 610 miles to Durango Colorado. Off every hour or so for a relax. from there it was north up million doolar highway and to independance pass etc etc. roads, weather, traffic, all will affect total miles you do. starting early is a big help also
Most of my trips I plan for around 300 miles per day, especially if you want to stop to see the sights, national parks, etc. It seems about the right distance per day for me when I am going for a week or more. I did 8500 miles in 26 days last year, which is about 325 miles per day. This allowed ample time to eat, stop for hydration, stop and see the national parks, and we were usually done riding by about 6pm each day.
Now if you want to just someplace in one day, the most of I have done is 775 miles in 100 deg heat. It is about 14 hrs and all I wanted to do. Going this far, the next day you really do not want to get back on the bike though so I wouldn't advise this for multiple days.
When just going from point A to B I try to keep it 500 mol. 750, while not common has been done a few times. That is 2 up fully loaded on a RKC. Cheers
