Default Gas Splashing?

Everytime I go to fill up my Street Glide I run into the problem of splashing gas. It doesn't matter how slow I fill the tank I get small droplets splashing out of the - inside of the tank /onto the outside. Drives me nuts. I wipe it as soon as I'm done filling up. I've now tried holding the nozzle right at the top of the port and it elevated some of the splashing, but not all.

Anyone else have that problem?

Same here. I try to aim the nozzle toward the front and go slow.
No...not talking about sex....

as others have said, go slow, and put a few paper towels around the opening.

HUH? Rags & paper towels around the nozzle?? I'm completely confused as to why any of this would be necessary. I insert the nozzle INTO the tank and pump at about half speed. Once it gets near the top where I can see it, I then slow down the flow until it's full. NEVER had any problems with splash.

If you need rags & paper towels to fill up, then you're doing something wrong.

Some nozzles do it, some don't. Problem is, when you are on the road, you don't know if you got a good or bad nozzle until you're actually filling up. I play it safe by wrapping a couple paper towels around the nozzle.

As for wiping the tank down if I do get the splash, I prefer to just let the gas evaporate. Trying to wipe it makes more of a mess than simply allowing it to evaporate.

The fuel is bouncing back off the pump/ filter . My 2012 heritage did the same..

so are you trying to top off the tank, or are you just speaking about while it's still filling up?

I know that trying to top off the tank if I am going on a long run that can sometimes happen, but not while it's just filling normally.

I would say that I can easily get 5 gal if not 5.5 gallons without any issues, but once it stops trying to get anymore usually involves some splash because now the tank is settled and you have that initial force of the gas out of the nozzle again.

go slow and angle the nozzle

Don't know about the op, but on my bike, once it's half full or so, small droplets start bouncing out of the tank. I can reduce the amount bouncing out by trying to aim the nozzle forward at reduced pressure. Often times not totally eliminating it though. If i shoot straight down, it hits the pump, i believe.....

Yep, tried everything mentioned. Going slow, aiming the nozzle, all the way in. ( oh my)

Anyway I do believe it is from the filter. Only other solution is placing a rag around the tank like some mentioned. My tank is the Black Denium so I don't want any blemishes on it from this happening.
