I got some slack from the harness as it was tied to the frame. I cut the tie straps and did a little stretching so everything fit snug against the frame again.
Also, When I disconnected the Tour Pak mounting bolts, I covered the frame area above the battery with cloths and just sat it on the Frame.
That way, you don't really have to disconnect any wiring from the Tour Pak like the directions tell you to. Just be careful and all will go well!!
I guess I might as well add my two cents worth. I have another post elsewhere in the Touring forums about this. My Mrs also loves the extra room the relo provides. But unlike some of the others I found the installation a pain in the butt. Bolts didn't fit very well and I ended up reinstalling the original 5 that mount the tour-pac to the rails. The Kuryakyn fancy chrome bolts didn't fit at all through the original holes and I wasn't willing to drill out the metal plate or trunk bottom. Also, the press-in bolts that mount the reinforcing rails to the frame and license plate bracket were a major pain. Maybe with a 5 ton press you could get them into the steel rails; but not by hand. Broke one off with the wrench and had to replace it with a creation of my own doing. As for wiring - no problems with any of it. If you can lay the tour-pac over the seat as suggested, it will save you some frustration trying to get the grommets back into the small holes below the speaker pods. All in all, though, a very worthwhile mod. It makes momma very happy to have that extra couple inches.
Thanks FlyingAce. I guess I will probably get my buddy to help me with the install, so I won't have to deal with the weight of the tourpak by myself. I think iI'm ready now to take the plunge and make mamma happy, and help keep me cooler without her legs making my sides sweat.
Also, I took off my lower fairings last week and ' wow ' what a difference. My only complaint is that it lets more air flow up towards my chest and head area, causing the wind to push my shorty helmet up at 70mph or faster. But, I can live with that![8D]

You are right, same problem here. I did re-use the original bolts at first but wasn't comfortable with it so I drilled out the tour pak (very carefully) to use the bolts in the kit.
AND....The two frame bolts suck! I did use the originals for that!!

My wife is complaining that if she had winter riding gear on or practically anything other than a pair of jeans that there would be no way she could ride. Hey, she's a trim, slim girl. What do big women do?? I love my new '06 Ultra but this is something that Willie G and Company should have given some more attention to. We didn't have the problem on my '90 Ultra. Anyway, that's life.
I installed one on my 06 EG Classic. The 06's have an adjustable Tour Pak so if anyone has an 06 check that out before you invest in the relocator kit. That said I still went with the kit, but had to also invest in the Kuryakyn adjustable passenger footpegs. Where my wife is 5'2" the set back made it hard for her to place her foot on the footboard even with it raised in its upper most position. BTW the original footboard is also adjustable in case you didn't know this. Any way the Kuryakyns are well worth the $$. Just don't buy them from Kuryakyn, check out eBay first.

Without the extender I was riding the tank a bit with my sweetie 2 up. The extender moved her back just perfect for me to be in the saddle as normal and she doesn't feel like she is wedged in. We are both on the big side. The UC dosen't care, just wants some more air in the shocks and away we go.
Hate to appear dumb, dah!! but how do you adjust the Tourpak. I see the bolts holding it on but does is just slide to the read if you loosen them or what? I'd rather not have to buy the Kurakyn extender if not necessary but I will to make the wife happy.
Dumb is: NOT asking questions. Now I assume you have an 06 because I believe that is the year that HD offered the adjustable TP. That said, look underneath the TP in the rear and look for the detent. If you see it and it is on the outside of the mounting bracket rail your TP is already adjusted as far back as possible. If the detent is inside the bracket rail then you have room to move it back. The adjustment is about 1" - 1.25". Moving it is easy. Just undo the 5 bolts holding it in place, leaving one bolt still fastened on the high side so the TP doesn't flip off. Hold the TP in place and remove all the bolts including the last one. Move the TP back, set the detent on the bracket rail and reinstall the bolts. Still confused?
