But if you are in Eugene you have to go way south to get to Crater Lake. Go straight out of Eugene on 58 up through Oakridge to Odel Lake on the way there is a beautiful waterfall, then when you hit 97 go north to Bend take 20 to 22 up through the mountains to Salem. Actually no matter what road you take between I5 and 97 all the way from the Ca border to the Wa border you will find some beautiful riding.

Or, from Portland, go east on I-84 tpwards Hood River and The Dalles, then up 97 through Goldendale to Yakima. Stop for lunch in Yakima at Miners Drive-in for an outstanding burger about as big as your face. (I'll sometimes ride over to Yakima just for lunch). Head west from Yakima via 410 over Chinook Pass (only open during the summer), down into Enumclaw, from there, you can get back to Seattle any number of ways.

This is pretty much what we're going to do. It might be a pretty late lunch though.
Thanks for all the input

Many great roads but I would suggest doing part of WA rt 20 over the Cascades. It will be cold though.

Weather's a little weird this week. Last week we put on a little over 1000 miles just buzzing around the state, weather was crappy on the coast so we headed north east. Spent a couple of days in Winthrop and eastern WA for a couple more. Inland the weather was great. Try to get to Winthrop on 20, great ride. Which dealer did you rent from?

Crater Lake is a great ride. Be sure to take a lap around the rim road and take a camera. Photo opps. abound.

We rented from East Side Harley. I had already bought my airline tickets and tried to call around to rent the bike. I forgot about Sturgis when we picked the dates. I was kind of sweating it on wether I would be able to get the bike rented during Sturgis. Had to call on March 1st. They wouldn't book it till then. Anyway, it all worked out good. The Limited runs those mountain peaks like they weren't even there.
