I went on a ride with my brother on Sunday and Monday. On Monday I noticed a vibration noise and finally figured out it was my air filter cover. The bolt was pretty loose. I knew I had my Harley tool kit in my saddle bag of my 2012 FLHX so I stopped and dug it out. Looks like nothing in the tool kit fits the air filter cover bolt. Am I missing something? What good is that tool kit if it doesn't fit something as simple as that bolt? We managed to tighten it up by hand and then turn it a bit with a knife to keep it from falling out.
Why would they not include a hex wrench in that size?
I would have removed the bolt and the outside of the air cleaner and put it in the saddlebag
Thanks for the replies. The tool that came with the bike was the orange plastic fold-out model. Strange that some had the hex that fit and some that didn't. We were able to get it tight enough to go the final 200 miles home so it really wasn't a problem, just seemed strange not to have the 5/16" in the kit.
The tool kits on the newer models leave a lot to be desired, I believe they started the orange kit in late 10 or 11, that kit is next to worthless, IMO, there are some really decent kits you can get from your local dealer or places like Dennis Kirk that are far more suitable.

Toss the orange tool that came with the bike and invest the $95.00 for a set of tools from "Cruz Toolz" . Has everything you would ever need. Nice little role up pouch which stores nicely ! Good Luck !
