I'm sitting here watching Barret-Jackson auto auction, seeing 1970 SS Chevelle ls7 going out the door for $90.000!
A 1957 Dodge whatever.. $250.000.. I just am in shock that these cars are going for that kinda money..
Then it hit me...
What I'm seeing is TRUE AMERICAN WORKMANSHIP being collected because it is going to be a thing of the past.. already is..
I can honestly say.. I Finally get it... Harley-Davidson hasn't changed for that very reason... It's an Artform, an Icon.. A Way Of Freedom..
And altho there are things built in another place.. It's to Harley's Specification.. to regain the tradition, that is known as Our Own..
I am an avid car buff.. I sold my 1971 SS Elcamino 454 to own a Harley-Davidson, and I was very reluctant to do so... But I know have another
AMERICAN work of ART, and it make's me feel proud that this "MOCO" has kept with the program..
I've changed my mind on the water cooled aspect of harley, It's been done with the V-rod.. Leave the V-Twin Alone...
Every time I here the sound of a Small/Big block HotRod or a Harley Roaring down the road, I'll think it a cry for the American Way... It Was..
Now I'll go to bed..............ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
What you have actually done is contribute to the stock holders earnings...........nothing more, just like the rest of us.
Your harley, to the stealer, has depreciated like nobody's business. Call them and ask them how much they will give you for it now that it's been titled.
The only "American Artform" I see is the painting of us getting bent over for >20k and no kiss.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
Now, where did I see that "edit" button[sm=escape.gif]
Wait! What's that noise I hear? Did a big block just pass by my window? Is that the"loping" of a Crane fireball cam, the"thunder" of the Edelbrock hi-risemoving gobs ofgas away from the 780 double pumper? The stall converter dumping like a clutch as the asphalt gives way?
Nah, just my wallet taking a deep breath as my Harley sits in the Hawg pen on a cold rainy night not earning a single penny for me.[sm=icon_rofl.gif]
I see you're from Houston. Who has the best tuners? Stubbs or Mancuso's or do you use someone else? Lake Charles has nothing so I'll have to make the drive to either Houston, Beaumont, or Alexandria.
Shhhhh .... I use to own a killer 69 Z28, all orginal this was backin 74-76 it was perfect. I sold it to a buddy for 6k and bought a cutomized Chevy Van. Ya'll remember when they were they craze. We'll I jumped on the band wagon. I recoken the Van is in some junk yard right now, andthe samebuddystillowns the Z, its worth about 75K.
B-J auction is amazing to watch. I am pretty glued to the TV every year. I just wonder where all these people got all their money from. I mean 285K for a DeSoto? Geez! I will be holding on to my 70 Mustang Fastback for awhile. As far as HD is concerned, our bikes will only appreciate when a vast percentage of them die off and are parted out. There are too many on the road imo.
I grew up building & racing muscle cars(I was a flat-rate line mechanic in a Chevy dealership at the time),my street car in the 70's was a1969 Chevy Nova SS with a 427 cubic inch open chamber aluminum head/12.5 compression/Hooker header/Crane roller cam/rat motor.
I also had a 1958 Corvette with hard and soft tops &factory Rochestercable driven fuel injection -I sold that car many moons ago for $1200..............
