If you are interested in onlyappreciation and HD becoming a collector item, pray that they willbe legislatedto water cooling, and get away from the traditional V-Twin looks, sound, etcASAP, before they make any more. Actually, I think it's too late, too many HDs that all look and sound alike, and like muscle cars, has to be factory original to bring the big money.
The way I see it,you keep it long enough and well kept, you will never lose money.I certainly never have. One of my toy cars is worth more than 10 times what I paid for it.69 SS Chevelle.
What you have actually done is contribute to the stock holders earnings...........nothing more, just like the rest of us.
Your harley, to the stealer, has depreciated like nobody's business. Call them and ask them how much they will give you for it now that it's been titled.
Some folks just don't get it.
I'm sitting here watching Barret-Jackson auto auction, seeing 1970 SS Chevelle ls7 going out the door for $90.000!
I bet in 1971 that same Chevelle had a big depreciation on it from the Chevy Dealers at trade in, and in 1970 the original sale contributed to the stock holders earnings.
But who knew that gas prices and emission controls would make them skyrocket in price 37 years later???
Who knew that the auto manufacturers would attempt "retro" versions of contemperary models to attempt to emulate the MUSCLE IRON of days gone by??

This is a discussion thattheir is no correct answer becauseeveryone has different values, but I eventually got rid ofvariousmuscle cars because from a financial viewpoint, they were not a good investments. Evenat a7% return on investment, your money doubles every 5 yrs andthere was no way that I could accept theinvestment risk, store, insure, maintain etc.Not to mention, the dam thing either didn't start or left me stranded every other time I took it somewhere. Just oneway of looking at it.My keeper is a 67 Vette roadster, 427/435 (our Harley is quicker).
Personally I would've kept the El Camino, and saved up some more for the Harley.....
I'm just waiting for my dad to pass down his baby to me, a white 1974 Corvette Stingray, only 80k miles onit. According to my mom, hopefully that'll be this year sometime. (He's not passing away or anything, but she's getting rid of all but one car, which will probably be their 4Runner).
I see you're from Houston. Who has the best tuners? Stubbs or Mancuso's or do you use someone else? Lake Charles has nothing so I'll have to make the drive to either Houston, Beaumont, or Alexandria.
I do most of the work myself.... My 06 had a PC3 and I did the tuning with the PC in the garage...
As far as Warrantee stuff, I leave that to the dealer..
As far as Tuners in this area, I would suggest S&S Cycles, on 529... For the dollar, and experience... As far as Dealers go, Mancuso on 290 (Crossroads) or
the one on 610 at North Main...
