Both and then some. You can go 8's but it is really rare. Mini's are likely anything less than 16". When most talk mini's though I think they are talking 10's and 12's.

I have 10" Paul Yaffee Classic Apes. They measure 12". I love them. I think any thing taller than stock is more comfortable.

I went with WILD One's 12 1/2 inch and love them but I wonder if I would of loved the 14's even more.

My SG is a 2011. I'm also 6 ft with 32" inseam. I just wasn't entirely sure of having my hands above the fairing. From just sitting on my bike and putting my hands out...it feels as if about another 5-6 inches above stock would be good, but not sure. Also not sure I want to reposition mirrors...I assume you have to do that ??

I don't remember where my hands were originally so I don't know how many inches up they went. I can tell you the 10's put the bottom of my grips at the top of the fairing. I can also tell you I bought a lower seat so it would have the effect of taller bars.

As for mirrors: Most say with 10's you HAVE to move the mirrors. Most also say that with 12's you can peak under your arms.

Thanks for replies! I think I will go with 12's for my SG. Any advice on what kind to get? Are they hard to put on myself or should I have someone a little more useful with tools?

You'll get plenty of different answers for what kind to get. I have PYO MBB's. I love'em and highly recommend them. They are very popular and I think there is a reason for that. Unless you have buddies with MBB's and you want to be different? There are some imitators now that are likely just as good. They seem to offer the sizes Yaffe doesn't (11" & 13") MBB's are arguably a fad with that point/angle. If you feel that way the Wild 1's are often recommended in the forum.

Hard to put on? Hard to judge someones abilities that I don't know. Personally I think it was easy, but you have to do your homework and you need to posses a little patience. When running the wire you might have to walk away once or twice. Lots of guys on here likely to help make sure it goes smoothly for you including myself.
