All this talk about a compass reminded me of just how screwy the magnetic fields are .
I'm not far from an agonic line (West of Lake Michigan ) so compasses run fairly true here .
But the further away from the midsection well .......heres a link see for yourself .

Don't do it. After my stealer repaced it 3 times, he gave me my money back and installed my Wally's oil temp gauge for free. I had nothing but problems with that POS compass.

Except in the "Green Beret"...Hollywood really blew this one...at the end of the movie there is a scene whereJohn Wayne is consoling the little Vietnamese orphan and the South China sea isbehind them...and the sun is setting!!

I assume it's a Harley gauge? If not thenwho makes a good Oil Temp gauge that fits in the dash then? Is it easy to install? I'm open to go with it and get a handlebar mounted Air Temp gauge... I do have the dipstick temp gauge, but I can't see it while riding, so would like to have one I can monitor while on the fly.

I had one, took it off and sold it on ebay. pain in the butt to keep it aligned...

The H-D compass is pain to install and align. Every time I disconnected the battery for whatever reason I had to realign the compass. The last time it just kept spinning so I put the air temperature gauge back in. Find something better to put in there like the oil temperature or radar detector.

How about a bottle opener for the beer??? That would be more useful than a compass or air temp gauge!
