With the price of the new tires you probable don't want to swap right away but bikebandits has 10% off and good prices today (last day for 10%). I just switched to the Michilin Commander II's from the Dunlop Elite III's and first impression is great. They are suppose to last about 2x longer than Dunlop's.
At this point, I'll certainly hold off on new rubber... there's plenty of miles left on the rear... I just want to know this is a normal feeling, and not something wrong... my Honda VTX's rear tires wore flat, just about the same as these, and I also experienced similar action in the rear when the flat spots were worn in... but not as lop-sided as this...

Thanks for the gut-check... I wasn't sure this could be attributed to this type of wear at this point, since I didn't hit that point on my Honda (also Dunnies) until a little later in mileage... but not much.

Can you jack the bike up, get the rear wheel off the ground.

Then grab hold of the wheel and see if you can wiggle it or the swing-arm. Any play in the wheel, wheel bearings or swing-arm busings could certainly cause this. There should be no play.

This is exactly what I want to test when I can get the bike up later tonight or tomorrow...

Mine did the exact same thing when my rear dunlop was worn out. I thought there were plenty of miles on it just as you do. I checked bearings, swing arm bushings etc... all good. Put a new tire on it and it was fine. I think I noticed it more to the left because I turn the bike a little harder to the left.

Me too, lefts are usually harder...

Maybe it's time for new rubber, as much as I hate to say it...

If you have a lift check for loose wheel bearings, low tire pressure, swing arm bushings, loose axle shaft.

Put your wallet in your shirt pocket. That will fix it.

Tire pressure is so key on these bikes as little as 4-5 lbs short can make things feel funky. Are running at 40 psi in the rear?
