Is there any way you can tell by looking at the baffel wether it is a quiet or standard baffel ?

Yes. If you look closely, with a flashlight, through the louver cuts in the baffle itself, the std will have nothing but "air" inside. The Quiet has packing. Otherwise, they look the same.

Are the diameters of the 2 different?

Or is it just the packing on one that makes it "quiet"?

The ballfles are exactly the same, with the exception of the packing.

Color could be white'ish or silvery....

You could probably use soemthing like a straightened out paper-clip and fish around inside the louver slats. If there's nutt'n there, it std. If there is, it's QT.
