With the 4 gallon mandate business, I guess I will have to dump a little on the ground to ensure not getting a bad mix in my tank. EPA will just have to worry about that.

If it runs good on the 93 run it, haven't seen many 08 UCs with carbs. The only problem I've seen with newer vehicles using E10 is a loss in MPG, I try to run non ethanol when I can, but I more worried about octane & ping than never running alcohol. You can try running the 89 & see if it pings, it might be OK when the weather is cooler, but I doubt it when it's in the 90s.

+1 on this.

Although - I'm not so sure that Ethanol would be harmful to an '08, as the OP has. Aren't newer bikes and cars/vehicles less prone to damage from the effects of Ethanol? Fighting this seems to be a lost cause... no?

I use the pure gas app on my iphone. works great. just did about 3000 miles in the corn belt and only had to buy moonshine gas a couple times. Most of the stations in a town of any size normally had a line up to buy their gas. Had one guy say your bike don't care if its burning corn squeezings or not. I said no the bike may not but I do. Don't want no govment gas.

Default Ethanol in gas

I run gas containing ethanol in my mototcycles all the time. I put alot of miles on them and have no problems at all. I have a 1988 Kawasaki Vulcan, 2004 Fatboy, and a 2009 Street Glide.
As far as claims ethanol taked food away...hogwash. The biproduct from the ethanol production goes back to the feedlots to feed the cattle. The corn used to go directly to the feedlots. Now it just makes a detour. We still have the cheapest food in the world.
I was on a motorcycle ride last year. Noticed alot of gas stations advertising no ethanol.
Stopped to fuel and started chatting with a gentleman there fueling his pickup. He was trying to tell me how bad the ethanol was for engines. Then told me he didnt mind running it in his diesel.....
I was in the south....oil country.

You will have problems...especially from your carbed engines..ethanol is a rubber, cork, fiberglass, and plastic solvent...I does take time for these degradings to take place. BUT mind you if you use ethanol gas they will come to you....OH yeah he was pulling your leg...You can't run any form of gas in a diesel...GOT it?

People WILL fool you but the effects of this ethanol gas is very, very serious

E-10 will very likely go to E-15 or E-20 AFTER this next election IF it doesn't turn out properly. Care to guess which meddling fool needs to lose his job to keep this increase in ethanol form taking place?

I can make this VERY simple....DO NOT USE ETHNOL GAS IN A CARBURATERED (sp)ENGINE. FUEL injected bikes ok. BUT NEVER IN CARBURATERED engine

Default fires from leaks

When we first got ethanol in our gas the occurrence of engine fires went up about 20%. Lots of carb parts weren't ethanol compatible. The stupid thing (ok one of the stupid things) is that the use of ethanol is as an oxygenate. The idea is that is is supposed to be less polluting than straight gasoline. The trouble is that almost every fuel injected vehicle now runs an oxygen sensor in the exhaust. If burning ethanol releases oxygen the oxygen sensor just lichens the mixture until the oxygen sensor reads no remaining oxygen! You just get poorer mileage an the same, or worse pollution. The result of any government program designed to make folks feel better but lacking any solid science.
