I use the Boom Audio handlebar mounted speakers and I'm very satisfied with them. However, my expectations were reasonable when I bought them. I knew I wouldn't hear them very well at 70MPH. I don't . . .but down around 60MPH or below they sound great and I'm very happy with them.

I have an IPOD and Shark motorcycle audio speakers mounted to the handlebar, the amp is mounted behind the panel on the right side of the Road King. I can hear my music loud and clear at highway speed.

I have some from Uniq Cycle sounds http://www.uniqcycle.com (different from Cycle Sounds). This company has a A+ BBB rating and uses Pioneer 3.5" speakers with a small amp. I have the amp mounted in a saddlebag, the speakers on the crash bars, and i added a Koss inline volume control mounted just under the seat. I use an I-pod or phone that is in my pocket, or mounted to the tank with a samll tank bag. i just wanted to keep the nice straight lines on the bars. I can hear it very clear up to 50'sh without the windshied. If the windshield is on I can hear up to around 70.

ditto in http://www.uniqcycle.com/ . I am stationed overseas and on the Bahn I can enjoy my tunes at 80 mph. helmet on, and no windshield.
I dont have them on in this pic, but I mounted hanging down, pointed up at me in the same spot as Clark. great company, GREAT deal, and sound fantastic!

I had the Uniq speakers and amp set up. Sounded VERY tinny with no base. Was not loud enough either. The boom
set up sounded MUCH better (on my brother's bike) and was louder...

Sharpshooter. A lot of good replies. My 2 cents. If you have ever thought about getting a GPS for your bike, do it and use ear buds. Nothing comes close to a good set of ear buds. The Garmin Zumo that I use has a receiver mount that is easy to hard wire to your bike. The supplied cables that come out of the mount are long enough to conceal and go to the back of the tank where you can plug in your ear buds. Then you can load up all the MP3s you will ever need.

the only thought i have with ear buds is that you cant hear anything else, unless you have them turned down enough, i asked the same question months ago and still not got around to getting some, (building a 1950 chevy pickup took all my time and money) but this thread has got me wanting a stereo system again lol

Yep...ear buds are the ticket. I got a good set of noise reducing ones and mounted an iPod. Sounds great and saves my ears from wind noise...I can still hear whats going on around me too...
