the only thought i have with ear buds is that you cant hear anything else, unless you have them turned down enough, i asked the same question months ago and still not got around to getting some, (building a 1950 chevy pickup took all my time and money) but this thread has got me wanting a stereo system again lol
I really do not have a problem hearing things around me when I am wearing my buds. But I don't crank my music up loud enough to drown out traffic noise. Well.... most of the time anyway.
just wondering if anyone has a Shark kit ? been looking at them online and they look and sound pretty good as they use Harley Davidson speakers apparently
The amp that comes with the Uniq Cycle Sounds is a 300 Watt amp. Granted that is peak power. I would say mine probably runs around 75 watts per speaker (just a guess), maybe a little more. As for them sounding tinny or not having any bass, i guess opinions vary. I never expected to get bass from a 3.5" speaker, and with a simple equalizer app I downloaded to my phone (thats what I use for music) i don't get a tinny sound. Personally I was not all that impressed with the boom audio setup but that was one set-up insided the HD dealer on a wall. I have heard good things about them though and I would love to hear one mounted to a bike. My wife is looking into a new bike and wants music...maybe I'll give the Boom audio a run.
My GF hooked me up with the HD Boom! Audio bar mounted set-up and it seems to get plenty loud. Still working on bike, so i havent road tested it yet. I ran the wires thru the bars and hid the amp in the backbone. Hate the plastic control part that mounts on the brake clamp on the bars. I have a Ness Bob Dron RK fairing and that should help with wind noise and sound projection. I may get some Cycle Sound bag lids and get a bigger 4 ch amp to get more balanced sound. Gonna try it out soon.

I got 2 6x9s ,an alpine PDx amp,2 3 1/2s and a Kenwood eq and its pretty loud. Way louder than any stock RG or SG. My lady says she can hear my music before my exhaust.(V&H true duals and 4" rineharts)
I have a ram mount for my cell phone with iheart radio downloaded for speakers i have the j&m handlebar mounted speakers that i bought from gear up motorsports cheapest around in arizona easy install plug and play sounds really great dont think you could do much better
Added some Boss 400C (600 watt) speakers to my bike. They are kind of big, but we can ear them easy at 80. For $60, they are fine enough, but a little low on bass. I was barely able to fit them and still get the windshield on.
