When I got my motor work done, I questioned the dealer about this very subject. I was thinking about the Rinehart True Duals or Vance & Hines Oval slip-ons with stock header. They advised me to keep the stock header even though they would have made more $ if I went with the Rineharts.
I'm thinking the stock headers will probably be better with a generic MAP, or an off the shelf map for your configuration.
A dyno tune for any bike is going to be better than any generic off the shelf map, and unless we can dyno tune the same bike with two different exhaust systems, I don't think we'll know. That would be pretty expensive anyway.
I have lost very little in power and what I do like is there used to be all the exhaust sound on the right side of the bike now it is equal on both sides and quieter The other thing is the heat from the crossover is now gone. Now I will have to wait to make sure but I am getting better MPG now.
So you kept the true duals...I agree with the sound and heat changes...I have elected to keep mine as well, and I like the way they look. Any small amount of power that I loose as a result of the true duals is minor to me, and not sure that I would "feel" 3 HP anyway...it's fast enough, and pulls hard enough to make me happy.
Ya know if theres money in it the MOCO will find away to copy whatever the aftermarket industery comes up with. I resently asked a HD enginer why they don't make true duels. I mean they gotta be cheeper to make then the crossovers. He said something about they may be better on "modified" motors, but on stock motors they hurt HP and Tq. Plus the scavenging effect on the valves helps keep them cool.
I love the way the duels look, and may help keep my right thigh from frying but I'm gonna stick with the stock pipes as long as my motors stock.Which I think will be for as long as I have it anyway. Got a set of crossovers Jet-Hot coated to try to help with the heat....
You asked me "Just a quick ? What would be better the Rinehart's or the SE's?
Right now I'm just gonna go with an exhaust and programmer or w/e they use for FI, but in time or over winter wanna bump to 95"
--------
What you want is called a stage I. Includes air cleaner reprogram and pipes.
I did not like the SE's at all. I went with the true duals V&H and now just ordered Rinehart's true duals. Just my $0.02 worth. I am going to sell my V&H TD on ebay about 300 miles on them.
All I need to do is get the removable tourpack, you need to get a corbin seat, and we'll nearly be twins!
Mac
Yes, they are twins. But I have the HD reach seat. The scooped bucket-shape saddle is enhanced with added back support padding to move the rider approximately 1.5" lower and 1.5" forward. PN#52544-05. I like the lower seat. But I just ordered my Rinehart's and I think you did also. Where did you get yours and are they dual.
