Default RE: Duals vs. crossover

Im struggling with V/H true duals vs just the slip ons along with stage one kit on my 06 Road glide. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of changing out the entire pipes vs just some slip ons? I realize i get rid of the crossover but does that mean more power? louder? less heat on the right side? Why do I want the true dual pipes? I'm looking for that low end torque and nice deep sound, of course I still want to go from 70 to 90 right NOW to pass. I've read some of this tread and it has been helpful. Just want some more viewpoints. Anyone? BTW explain to me "2 into 1" system. Its all new to me.

There are a couple of companies making falsies for 2 into 1 systems. one is thunderheader who makes an excellent system which is as ugly as it is good and that is real good.I have not seen a good looking falsie system yet.

Best designed "true dual" system will always have less power in normal riding rpm range than best designed 2-into-1 system. Only matters if it matters to you.

Default RE: Duals vs. crossover

I just changed to V&H Dresser Duals on a 2006 Road Glide. I had Screamin Eagle II slip-ons with the stock crossover and left them on with the Duals. I have not noticed any loss in power where as a dyno may show a loss or gain. Unless someone has hard fast data that proves power loss of duals or 2-2 versus two into ones, it’s a moot point!! In post # 12-15 of this thread, Touring Slip-on Ranking!!, I find it hard to argue about any power loss. Yes, some setups will give loss, some gains, but the averages in the American Thunder Night Train project were minimal. I think it all depends on what set up you go with and proper tuning. The highest torque was with 2-1s (100.7 versus 100) and the highest HP was with 2-2s (101 versus 99.2). The bottom line is find what you like, do the research, get a proper fuel management and tuning. The average rider is not going to notice 2-5 hp or tq difference.

After some long hours researching slip-ons, I have narrowed my next set to the D&D Big Boss or Police Interceptor slip-ons (quite and better power than the SEs). Although, that will be a couple years down the road since these SE IIs are still new and it's running pretty darn good. Plus the right side heater is gone and my wife and I are a lot more comfortable.
