Dealer had to order me a new switch, question is will that come with new bag locks, or will I be stuck caring two keys?
Can turn my ignition and lock it, but it would pull right up.
I had to replace mine on my 2011 Road Glide. I could have turned it in on warranty but I was in a hurry and headed on a trip so I paid the $60 and did it myself.
THE SYMPTOM - the switch was super sensitive. Just touch it and the lights would flicker and the engine would die.
WHAT I FOUNd - After I changed the switch, I broke the old one apart to find all the copper contacts were green and gummed up with corrosion.
When I asked him that he said it would be a different key. Just thought about my bags. Taking it in on Friday. He did say they have been quiet a few come in with the same issue. Mine is 11SG.
Looks easy enough, I pulled it out to see what I could see. Dealer said I would need the alignment tool to do it right.
I made a tool out of a piece of copper tubing hammered flat. Lots of threads on this showing how to do it. Pretty simple and works great. There is a learning curve on how it all works using the tool but once you figure it out, it's easy.
BTW, my dealer has sold 10 switches so there must be something to this. I do wash my bike and I also ride in the rain so it just makes sense that water would get into the switch.
