Default Crackle front left speaker

Going nuts. Have the hog tune set up. Have crackle in left front speaker. Only when engine on not without engine running. Switch front and back on amp still front left. Changed out speaker, checked all connections still there. Any suggestions would help.

I had the same problem and most likely the head unit is damaged. I changed the HK out and put in a Sony and the problem was solved.

the power amp section always runs full out- any interference is fully amplified.

You may have spark ignition interference- does the crackle change at all with rpms ( check this in neutral standing still).

if so, change sparkplugs and plug wires to OEM type- noty screaming eagle, just ordinary HD and what ever plugs they sell for your bike.

-------------

If we pass that test, try shaking the bike listening for crackle- we are looking for a poor connection- if you have access to the head unit and amp(s), you could try wiggling the wiring and tapping on the units.

chack that the electrical feeds are secure and tight- all the crimps are good.

if you have any soldered wires, check to see if the wire strands have broken yet- they break right where the tinning ends

these are just basic ideas- i work with electronics- but do not have your set up so going by braille

Thanks guys. Going to disconnect amp hook base unit back up see if still there, also will try regular plugs. I'm running v-rod plugs tuner recommended them. Runs good with them but let's see if crackling stops. If not then will call pez see if it's the amp. Will update.

running other than OEM plugs may cause the ECM to "detect" a misfire or spark knock that is not there...thus retarding timing or throwing codes.

careful on that.

My tuner recommended them and did the dyno with those plugs in. I'm wondering if oem plugs would change timing.

Ummm, try moving the speaker wires away from the speaker magnets. You're creating inductance when they are close. It comes out as crackle on the speaker.
