I am heading out on a 5K trip tomorrow solo with a 10' Ultra LTD. I weighed the bag I plan to place on my tour pack rack, it came to 28lbs. The sticker says 10lbs max. Anyone put more on theirs? Any problems?
Thanks!
We had 2 sleeping bags,a leather jacket, vest and few other items on mine.I know it was more than 10#.
It will hold a lot more weight but be careful when opening the lid.The weight will bend the hinge side of the tour pack.
I had a Playmate cooler full of beer and ice strapped to mine tour pak rack this year. No issues with the rack. Be careful as the weight that high up will change the bikes center of gravity.

Stick with the 10# and you shouldn't have any problem. Put 2x pounds on it and given enough time you (as in someone doing so not necessarily you specifically) will have a problem.

i have packed and stuffed all of the hard bags, like the posts have said, take care when opening, but on a long ride, more than a week, I stuff the crap out of them and all is good.
