I have the same exact bike and the midnight pearl looks black in the shade but in the sun it is a beautiful metallic dark blue. This was my favorite color and I waited to order it till I had seen all of the different colors on a FLHR. I am doing a Fuel Moto Stage 1 on mine in the next month, just waiting for the header pipe.
I have the same bike too and same midnight pearl color. I'm thrilled with it. In the sun, the metallic is awesome. I think it has a hint of light green in the metallic that shows up in the sunshine, or it just my eyes playing tricks?

OK, u ansered my question. I have an 05 FLHRI, Black Pearl Metallic. I guess the "Midnite" is a diff color.
Next year, you'll probably have another new bike.
Nothin' wrong w/that either..
I'm 65 years old and I'm hoping this is the last one. I didn't start riding until I was 59. I've had 5 bikes in 6 years, but I'm just making up for the 40 years of not having a motorcycle. And I have the most wonderful wife
Last August I went into a HD salesroom and saw the Midnight Pearl Road King. Maybe it's flashbacks but the I saw the bike and it said to me "I'm the one!". Needless to say I bought it. I smiled when I rode out of the lot and now that I'm retired, I still smile when I ride it. I'm adding some doo-dads now but that blue sparkle in the sun is still "looking good". I'd like to change the front fender to a SG type, so I'll have to see how much HD will sell them with the MP color scheme. Ride on everybody and traveling mercies to you all!

I started riding in my 50's too. And after I traded in my 2008 Road King for a Street Glide, I then went thru a BMW 1200RT, a Triumph Thunderbird, and a Triumph Rocket III before I realized I should have never let my Road King go. And that was all in less than five years. Now I have a 2013 Road King and am very happy. I much prefer the windshield to a faring, don't wanna listen to music, but did add a detachable tour pack which pretty much stays on the whole time.
I'm 58 (did I just admit that?) and I had a 2005 Ultra Classic, and then a 2008 Ultra Classic. In 2008 I decided to try a BMW R1200RT and sold the UC. I really liked the RT. It did everything so well except it didn't have the fun factor.
During all of those years I got tired of the fairings and dreamt about a Road King. Finally last week I sold my RT and got a 2013 Road King Classic in vivid black. I have a little over 500 miles on it and I love it.
