I just bought a 2001 Road king, and the guy had not ridden it much in the last year. He states he put fuel stabilier in but no tender so the battery was dead when I came to test ride it. We went and bought new plus and a battery and started right up but the idle seemed low. I adjust once i bought it and got home, so running much better but wondering what fuel cleaner ppl use or recommend?
I would run that tank out without any additional additives since it already has fuel stabilizer in it. You might just add new gas once you have a half tank. I have an old Vette that only gets a tank per year used and have had good luck just putting in Sta-Bil. There have been alot of discussions on here about using Seafoam but I think it's overkill. I would just run it with fresh gas once the old gas is gone. Don't fix it if it isn't broke. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
there is about 1/4 tank of the old gas. and i did replace the plugs, as he had fouled them trying to start it with a dead battery. maybe just wait till it is all but empty, and add new gas.
Add new gas, ride it. New plugs and a refill-ride and it will be fine. Too much thinking going on. Seafoam, ha! Never used that s*** and never will and never, I mean NEVER had a problem one either carbed or EFI. My two cents and experience. Like I said too much thinking and listening to internet BS!
Sea foam is great if you need it but gas treated with stabile is good for at least two years! I put stable in my boat and pickled the boat for 3 years......I was going to pay to drain the fuel but couldn't afford it.
I put fresh batteries in and both engines fired up after 3 YEARS with stabile in less than 5 engine revolutions. Boat ran great. I burned it out and fresh filled it. That stuff is amazing!
