I think my bike is showing a code as of Saturday, but I can't retrieve the code.

Usually when I turn the ignition on, the engine and security light come on and when the bike fires, the lights go out. Now after the bike fires, the engine light comes back on for 1-2 seconds then goes back out. Is this the bike saying there is a diagnostic code?

I follow the Clymer manual that says turn the ignition on for three seconds plus one second after the fuel pump cycles, then off for three seconds; repeat once, then it will flash the code. After I do the ignition cycle, nothing happens. I'm not sure what is going on, so those in the know, please shed some light on this for me. Thanks!!
