I have the system installed, and bought the HD Siren to go with it. Had it about 6 months and have yet to install it (for a bunch of crappy reasons). Frankly, I think I worry that I'll set it off and it'll make me jump and I'll drop the bike or some dumbass thing like that.

I have seen 'that guy' that forgets his code or whatever. When I picked up my bike one of the first things I did was reset the PIN and practice the pin override until I could do it with my eyes closed. Yeah, haven't done it since. No idea how to enter it now, but I could probably guess the code. I happen (as many probably do) to have a phone that has some sneaky ways of hiding 'stuff'. I never forget that code, and I have the instructions and the code burried and on me whatever/wherever I am. OK, just looked, still there, easy peasy and the code is personal, why would you need to be 'that guy'?

Disadvantage is that it can be cut right off and no noise.
If the battery is disconnected, it is too.
It can be silenced by just using a can of foam. (Shaving Cream) Try it. You will see.

I have the Harley Siren II. It has it's own battery. It can be changed if it goes bad).
If it goes off, it will continue even if removed from system.
I can add the Pager without needing to add to the bike.

It comes right down to it. If I had a $6 bike. I would put a $6 siren on it.
true that the radio shack siren does not have a battery backup. but if a thief is dicking with your bike and the siren goes off, he doesn't know if you have a battery backup or not. and he isn't going to take the time to find out.

i think the shave cream trick is gonna defeat your expensive hd siren too. i guess thats where the pager would kick in.

i figure the $6 siren is better than nothing, and insurance will kick in to pick up the slack. if a thief wants my bike, he's gonna get it. any alarm is nothing more than a small speedbump, but it makes the next guy's bike look a little more attractive than mine..... hopefully

Exactly! The $85 I saved when I bought my $6 Radio Shack siren got me more bling. Nobody dicked with my bike .......... yet, and if someone does, I better be far away from the bike cause the siren isn't what the thief will remember, if he ever remembers anything.

You can put 20k with of security on your bike 10k and it still don't mean squat. Someone wants your bike bad enough they will get it. And nobody can tell if you have a cheap or expensive siren on it

The best move is to have full coverage insurance to cover the loss.

True but you need the ECM, rear belt and fuel pump..
Also I've know 10 people who have had the TSSM fail once the bike went over the 30k mileage mark, myself included. Most people don't have that many miles on their bike or trade them every 2 years with 5-8k on their bike.

All of the bikes sold by the loacal dealers come installed the factory security so there isn't an option here locally (I'm not talking about the siren add on) I don't think you can buy a new HD without the FOB now, can you? So the TSSM will still be there waiting..
