Default Streetglide to Roadglide conversion

Hello all. I'm currently about to undertake converting my 2012 Streetglide into a Roadglide. I have read a lot of the threads and pulled up a write up from American Bagger where it shows step by step and all the parts needed to perform the conversion. Before I start thowing money out there I just wanted to get a question answered and any last minute advice. Besides the fairing mounting bracket has anything else changed for 2012 as far as parts that I would need to turn my Streeter into a RG custom? I know the fairings both inner and outer haven't changed since 98 and turn signals might be different. What I'm really concerned with is mounting the fairing and wiring. I can buy a 98 fairing inner/outer and mount it with the 2012 brackets? Cable/wiring lengths the same? I looked at the write up but I noticed their bagger was using a throttle cable and mine is TBW of course. Thanks for all your input in all the threads. The HD community rocks.

Joel

This may be a silly question but why did you buy a Street Glide if you wanted a Road Glide?

Wow, 4 responses and still not one useful one for the OP. Why not help the guy out instead of the useless comments? JMO

Good luck with the conversion, and keep us updated (for those of us who are interested).

I cannot help you with any specific questions, but from what I have read the conversion is not all that difficult to do. You might need to consider a bar swap while your at it. The bars on the batwing and the roadglide are different. The wiring should probably be fine, but the roadglide fairing is further away from the rider so you might need extensions, but that should have been referenced in the article you cited.

The only change to the fairing on the roadglides that I am aware of was in 2010 thru current, but it changed the angle of it mounting on the bike. No actual changes to the fairing itself. You might want to get a mounting bracket for the fairing for 2010 or newer though.
