I bought 2012 flhx Street glide. It has 7000 on it now. My question is when I let out on the clutch you can hear it grab or engage quick with a slight squeal. Is this normal ? I'm not trying to pop it or anything. I also think the clutch is adjusted good too. You can hear it just normal shifting 1, 2, 3, 4. Maybe just new? The primary fluid is Red Line's Primary Fluid.
Any chance the chirp is really coming from the rear tire with that grab at the end? Fluid level is supposed to have some effect on this, the shop manual cautions against too high a level. To complicate things, I understand the the guys who maintain the police machines used in the low speed maneuver demos add extra lube for cooling with the above average clutch slippage involved with low speed control.
My machine seemed much more prone to clutch grab when it was new. It is less prone now with 45,000 miles. Since Harley recommends engine oil in the primary, you might give that a try, yours is the first complaint I have ever heard about involving any Redline product.
Thanks for the replies. I really like the new bike, I'll keep listening. On a Harley it so hard to tell where a noise is coming from. I am Red Line fan and have used it in the trans on 3 bikes.
When I change the primary fluid I'll check the clutch adjustment. I'll get my mechanic drive it too.

Mine does the same thing, only when it's warmed up good. It's done it since it was new. I wouldn't describe it as a chirp, but you can definately hear the clutch engaging and disengaging. Mine also makes the noise when you come off the throttle and then back on it. It sounds like some kind of slack. It almost reminds me of the old centrifical clutches on the go carts and mini bikes we had as kids. I've gotten used to it and intend to ride the hair off of it. If it breaks, it's under warranty.
