The thing that's caught my eyes is the engine guard.

Well, this certainly got a lot of response. Thanx to all (‘cept the smart asses)

More than likely, I will wait until I can do both wheels. If I do it at all. I know myself well enough to know that it probably WILL bug me, even if no-one else notices. Part of my issue is that I’ve crossed the boundary of sinking WAY too much into this bike than I will ever come close to getting back out at some point. And when I originally did the chrome job on the stock wheels, that was part of the decision making process. Doing the Agitators was 2.5 times more expensive than the chroming of the stock wheels.

Along with the somewhat oddball size of the tires for the Agitators being a factor, and the fact that I already had a brand new back tire waiting to go on (stock size). I thought, and still think, the chromed stock wheels are big improvement over the stock black/aluminum wheels, and it was relatively inexpensive, wheel wise. At some point I have to decide If I keep dumping money into this bike, or bite the bullet and try to sell and get a 2012 CVO Street Glide (red). I always said people were nuts to pay that kind of coin for a CVO, until I added up what I have into this bike (DOH!!) Sadly, I never saw a CVO that was just quite perfect enough for me to spend that kind of money on, until that damn 2012 came out, 3 years too late. The 2011 was close, the 2012 is like they had ME design the thing personally. Then again, theres something about doing YOUR bike yourself, even if it makes no financial sense. And I Do NOT look at them as an investment.

But that 2012 CVO Street Glide is dead nuts PERFECT. Me Want. Bad.

The fact that several posters thought the rear wheel was stock (black/aluminum) and did not notice it was in fact chromed to match the front, does lend some credence to the “you just don’t see the back wheel all that much” argument.

Now, as for responses to posts:

1. The damn blue car. Ok, I commute 80 miles to work and back, and needed something that was economical without being a total snooze fest to drive. However, you will all be happy to know the Blue Mazda 3 2.3 liter was recently replaced by a V6 Ford Fusion, and its metallic RED. (ironically, the Fusion gets 1mpg better on the highway commute than the Mazda did)

2. While several HDs did have mismatched wheels (my fav being the Night Train) I do agree they did look better with matched wheels.

3. Im not “worried” about what others think, just asking opinions out of curiosity. Wondered how many would actually notice.

4. I LOVE the Agitator. I don’t care if they are becoming very popular, or that most of the CVO bikes have them. I still WANT them. All Chrome, not contrast. Its the ONLY wheel I have ever liked enough to even consider spending that kind of money on. And I’ve looked at hundreds of them. Compared to Aftermarket, they are CHEAP!

5. They are called Agitators BECAUSE the spokes curve forward. (as in, stirring things up) If they curved the other way, they would be called Blade.

6. Several of you HAVE left the rear wheel stock. Or are going to. The rear SG wheel, unlike the front, which took on a 5 spoke look when they increased the size, mostly looks like a slotted dish. Its pretty benign, in terms of style. So I could see where it could be pulled off if one wanted to. My thinking was that what shows the most on mine now, is the chrome outer rim, and since thats chrome, It would not stand out as bad as it would had I left it totally stock. Hell, the think is so covered in brake dust most of the time, (despite my best efforts) the only part that looks chrome IS the outer lip. The wheel looks gray 3 days after washing it. Definatly gonna change to different brake pads when the time comes.

7. Color matching the hinges and latches on the tour-pak: hey, you guys are eating into my wheel fund damnit!

8. StreetGSP, your photo has me at least re-considering the contrast chrome, but I AM a huge chrome *****. So I dunno.

9. I cant wait till the rear tire is worn out. Its brand new and was put on when I chromed the wheels. However, I COULD just do the front, and do the rear when the back tire is gone. Or, I could sell them both now, while the back is essentially new. (less than 1500 miles) If I could get a decent price doing that, I would consider it. They buyer would get a damn near new back tire, a decent (half used) front tire, polished front rotors, and would not have to have the expense of bearing purchase/install and tire mounting etc. Anyone interested?

10. The “grass” that needs cutting is really the weeds growing in the dirt next to the driveway. Hope to have it concreted in next spring. Just my luck it had been a while since we did weed control when I took the pic. (and the really tall stuff to the left is actually decorative grass in a planter)

11. color matched wind deflectors on fairing and heat deflectors. I’ve seen them color matched. I did not like it. Would rather the heat deflectors match the seat, and the fairing deflectors match the windshield.

12. Texas Fat Boy, your sig photo is NOT helping! Damn you! (lucky bastard)

13. RaceFace, cant lower it any further to hide the rear wheel. Its already 12” shocks. Any more and I might as well make it a hard tail.

14. Extended bags (to further hid the rear wheel) would be great, but would cost more than the rear wheel. Especially since I would also have to change exhaust to do it.

15. HD_rolling: Trust me, your wife or girlfriend LIKES that gap. Its what allows the vibration damping on her backrest. Took my wife out on a Victory Cross Country Tour, and she said her back was asleep within 5 mins from the vibration. (theirs is mounted fixed to the trunk)

16. The chrome on the exhaust system all matches, its the light/reflective angles that make it look otherwise. The mufflers are V&H Monster Ovals. I love em. Get lots of compliments on them. Neighbor said his wife has an orgasm when I start the bike in the garage.

17. Mike1158, the rear SG wheel IS already chromed.

18. paulgaines319: The photos were edited/composited in Photoshop CS5.5 The Agitator wheels were from a Harley promo shot of the CVO Street Glide.

19. Marroon Minivan on top of the mazda: see #1.

20. Jackhis: the engine guard is due to be replaced with a really kewl looking one I saw at the Laughlin River Run one day in the future. What caught your eye? that I haven’t taken it off? Too dangerous for my blood.

Oh, and I had strongly considered putting chromed calipers on the front. The guy who did the wheels also does them. But I decided it was just a bit "too much"

Hell,

Maybe Ill just throw a chrome Anarchy on the front, leave the Airstrike on the back, and call it a day. Maybe do the Anarchy on the back when the back tire wears out and I can save up for it.

That way I can use the same front tire. Both wheels are 5 spoke, both are chrome, kinda similar look other than the Anarchy is more detailed, and if anyone looks that close at the rear, screw em.

In my opinion directional wheels dont belong on a harley, although that one doesnt look bad. I would have went with mamoth spokes or somthing, seeing as you seem to care what our opinions are. My other word of wisdom is... You cant see it when your riding it, unless you look at your reflection in shop windows as you ride by, probably better to look strait ahead to see whats comin Because life is to short to worry about whats behind you!

So here is a technical question.
When going with the larger rims than the stock rims, how does that affect your gear ratio/speedo?
Or do you still have the same tire OD as stock because you are using the lower profile tires with the new rims?

The latter. The Tire profile changes to keep the diameter close to the same.

The first thing I noticed was the black heat shield. I personally like the clear ones, rthen it was the rear wheel. You can get the Agitator much cheaper from lshd1.com shipped to you if that helps,

You can only see the front wheel on the side stand also, DUH.
And like one poster said in pictures it’s easy to hide, but in person it stands out very noticeable.

3) For all those people that say the Wide Glide has mismatched wheels so it’s OK,
the Wide Glide looks better with matching wheels.

You can just do one front wheel at first and see how it goes.
But I’ll bet every time you look at your bike you will notice it. That’s what I did the first time.

You did do the painted "inner fairing" to make everything match. So don’t cheap out now. lol
Good points all. I agree with every one.
